Wisdom Teeth Removal Services at Aminya St Dental

Wisdom teeth is the third molar at the very back of your mouth that makes an appearance in your late teens or early twenties. For a few it comes through without an issue. For others however, they cause pain, crowding or infection that eventually leads to removal. Depending on how the tooth is positioned it can be removed simply or surgically.

Aminya St dental deals with extractions in our own surgery. If multiple wisdom teeth need attention we will usually refer you to a specialist oral surgeon who can arrange treatment under day surgery hospital protocols.

What is a wisdom tooth removal?

It is a common dental procedure to extract one or more of the four third molars. It’s one of the most frequently performed procedures in dentistry because the jaw often doesn’t have enough room to accommodate them properly.

When a wisdom tooth doesn’t have space to emerge fully or grows at an angle, it’s known as an impacted wisdom tooth. This is the main reason people end up needing extraction, as they can press against neighbouring teeth, trap food and bacteria and cause ongoing problems if left untreated.

Signs you may need your wisdom teeth removed

Not everyone has to remove their wisdom tooth but if you have to, there maybe these signs:

  • Persistent pain or pressure at the back of the jaw

  • Swollen, red or bleeding gum around the tooth side

  • Difficulty in opening your mouth or when chewing

  • Recurring infections around a partially erupted tooth

  • Decay forming around an impacted tooth

If you’re experiencing wisdom teeth pain, relief often starts with a proper assessment to understand what the underlying cause is. In some cases anti inflammatories and a saltwater rise can manage short term discomfort but they won’t completely rid of the pain if the tooth is truly problematic.
